STEP FOUR: COMMIT TO EMPLOYMENT >

Step Four: Commit to Employment

Required – Reasonable accommodations to existing Autistic employees or employees who have Autistic family members.

Desirable – Two week work placement for an Autistic individual.

Ideal – Three month part-time work placement with the view to paid part-time employment.

To make Waterford Autism Friendly in a meaningful way, we don’t just aim to improve the experience of visiting Waterford but living here and a big part of this would be for Autistic people to have more opportunities for employment in order to enable them to live independent lives. We hope to achieve this in two parts – work placements and paid positions.

This would be a fully facilitated and insured process by the Cara Autism Support Service who would meet with the organisation to find out the required skill set and then we would make a match from our client database. Then depending on the organisation’s commitment and the individual’s requirement, we would support both with either a short-term work placement or part-time paid employment (Wage Subsidy Scheme available to most employers). gov.ie – Wage Subsidy Scheme (www.gov.ie)

*** You will move to our ‘Autism Inclusive Wall’ as now being a successful Autism Friendly Organisation. We would then come to you to film/interview and promote this on our website/social media.***
